THE DESERT THAT DEFINED ME

At first, the desert felt like a barren expanse—empty, harsh, and limiting. I questioned what could grow here, what inspiration could exist in this place. Over time, El Paso became my canvas. Its quiet vastness, the resilient land, and the people who shaped my journey helped me see beauty where I once saw nothing. This series tells that story: a woman trapped inside a frame, burdened by self-doubt. The balloons symbolize ideas and dreams, once held back, now breaking free as her perspective shifts. What once confined me, ultimately defined me.

The Box of Doubt

Inside the frame, ideas and inspiration remain confined by doubt and limitation.

The Moment of Release

The frame gives way. Ideas, like balloons, break free from constraint and drift into the endless desert sky.

The Beauty Beyond

Stepping outside the frame, she sees the desert not as a limitation, but as a canvas of boundless possibility and unexpected beauty.
